MT and TXP
I was learning a lot about design lately. Reading great designers and design resource site gives me a lot to think about my skills in design. Mark Boulton has just published the last part of his Five simple steps to better typography and has taught me how to go about using fonts properly.
Jumping from one designer’s site to another, I observed that most of the sites/blogs I read is either have MovableType or Textpattern backend. Does this imply that People who design better are using the aforementioned blog software? I am not claiming that Wordpress sites/people are inferior in design talent. This is only my observation that most sites that teaches or write about design are written on MT or TXP.

I think that has more to do with the age of MT and the hype around TXP.
Don’t get me wrong, I actually have nothing against TXP… I hate all things MT, but TXP is okay. MT was the first mature, widely accessible, free personal publishing platform that didn’t suck ™ that meant when you were a designer setting up a blog you gravitated toward that platform, and all the support you found was for that platform.
TXP has been hyped for good or ill, as an elegant easy to use CMS… I am not sure how accurate that is, since I found it incredibly obtuse and non-intuitive… of course I am a php guy, and like handling functions and code… so that might be it.
I think you are seeing and will continue to see that tip in favor of WP as we refine the admin area and designers discover the power of themes in 1.5.
Lovely, easily readable design by the way. Very snazzy.

Chris:
Thanks Chris. I’ve been a regular reader of your site. I just don’t leave comments as I usually don’t have constructive to say.
