On headphones and hearing loss
On recent news: prolonged usage of headphones can lead to loss of hearing. People who have been power users of headphones during the Walkman days are reported to suffer for hearing loss. I’m afraid I’m one of them people. Then came Discman. That too made me listen to music all day. Now with MP3 players, it can last me days of music listening zen.
I picked up the habit of using headphones again while listening to music because the sound coming from it is clearer and better. And I don’t have to annoy everybody inside and outside the house. Hey, rock music should be played loud to appreciate it. Right? I think rockers coming from old and new school will agree. Nothing beats the thundering drumrolls, screeching guitar licks when played loud.
Let’s see what can be done to lessen the damage it might do to my ears.
- I should be using the stereo component more.
- Leave the music gears home most of the time.
- Listen to soft music.
- Lower the volume if ever.
- Always be in a conversation.
I think I should do more of the last one.

Hi there, bloghoppin from your comment made on pinoytechblog.com.
In my opinion, since i’m a headphone user. I take advantage of the fact that the music that is always played on FX taxis are the ones that are sleepy and lonely, i use my walkman and tune in to a station with the least commercials and my genre or play a tape of copies from my CD.
So far, i never experinced hearing loss so far.
