PyGreSQL-3.7
Anybody successfully compiled PyGreSQL-3.7 in WinXP? Just upgraded Python to 2.4.2 from 2.4.1 and PostgreSQL to 8.1.1 from 8.0. I do not have all the MS tools (VC++ Toolkit, SDK framework, .Net framework) to run setup.py. I relied heavily on MingW to compile Python extensions. PyGreSQL-3.6.2 with Python 2.4.2 and PostgreSQL 8.0 compiled fine with MingW. But not the PyGreSQL-3.7, Python2.4.2 and PostgreSQL8.1.1 combo. I think there was a change in the file structure.
I am temporarily using a workaround to be able to use PostgreSQL 8.1.1. Here’s how I did it. The PyGreSQL-3.6.2 compiled for PostreSQL8.0 is installed. Then I copied all the dll files in the PostgreSQL 8.1.1’s /bin directory to c:\windows\system32. I hope I can find a more graceful way to do it. So far my workaround works.
Downloading Postgresql and MySQL
I am in a process of upgrading my programming tools specifically Python, Postgresql and MySQL. I have blogged about MySQL 5.0 availability but deferred the download until now. It’s a bit surprising to know that MySQL is the bigger download than Postgresql when the latter’s package is more complete. Postgresql’s installs include an administration tool and documentations. In the past, I had to download a separate administration tool like MySQL Control Center. Another thing is how come Postgresql with all those enterprise level features come in such a small package.
Upgraded to Wordpress 2.0
Just upgraded to Wordpress 2.0. All the plugins I used including the ones I wrote are still working fine.
Sideblog V2.0 Released
Sideblog version 2.0 is out. Fixed the password protected and future post bug. Changed the parameter format to querystring style. Added a way to include post title and permalink. Details on how to install can be found at the plugins permanent page.

Will this be another Flock? It remains to be found when people blog about and with it in the coming days. I, myself, am a little late on this.
Christmas Wishlist
