Affiliates, anyone?
When adsense seem not working for me on this site, I decided to go ahead and tried affiliating, again. This time with something that I can relate with. I signed up to be an affiliate for www.text-link-ads.com since I was selling text links through them and they had been good at it. So why not help them find more text link buyers and publishers.
Why is affiliating good for both the referrer and the referred? We’re not talking about pyramiding scheme here. It’s just that if you really liked what was offered, the person who referred you should be rewarded for pointing you to the right direction. Internet affiliating is not something that will take something away from you. Most of the affiliate program being offered in the internet are free. When you find a product or service that you really like and would have bought it eventually anyway, why not find someone who is affiliated with the program. You are actually helping your referrer.
In my case, I am an affiliate of www.text-link-ads.com, if you sign up to become a publisher, there are no added cost to you. It’s just that I receive a small referral fee from text-link-ads for referring you. You too can become an affiliate and earn from it.
To those who sign up with www.text-link-ads.com using my affiliate’s banner, thank you very much.

[...] Take for example Kate’s blog. He’s been trying to monetize his blog thru AdSense for sometime now but I guess the traffic he gets aren’t enough to pump in enough revenues. So selling links seems to be a better alternative considering he’s got a PR 6 blog. [...]

Kates,
the problem with this is that you are openly advertising that you are selling links - and that’s what will bring your site onto a link selling blacklist.
This will basically mean that your site won’t pass PR anymore and therefore advertisers (those who care & know) will turn away…

@presellpageman:
I tend not to believe everything that’s written in the web especially when it comes to SEO - in my experiment I can’t always replicate the same results, but nice point though. Thanks for reminding me that.

Kate, may I just ask.. How long were you with Adsense before you decided to move into affiliates? I’m considering adding affiliates as well.

@jozzua:
I’m on my 11th month. I have better earnings thru my affiliate account in TLA than adsense.
You can try being an affiliate. It won’t hurt. It doesn’t go against adsense. Try it for sometime, if it doesn’t do well, you can take it down.

i wanted to try textlinkads, tried to signup (using your referral link),but unfortunately their payment is via check (US and Canada), and paypal, which is not available here in pinas. just wanna ask, how do you receive your payment? thanks!
April 20th, 2006 at 9:17 am
They do send checks to Philippines. I got mine twice.

tried to signup, but i couldn’t get through it. I guess they have updated their registration system, as they’re only sending checks in US and Canada for “new” users.
April 20th, 2006 at 10:18 am
Does the registration system actually blocking you? There are just too many of us Filipinos who got in and is receiving checks. We did email them about it. I don’t know what happened maybe they changed their policy on sending checks to Phils. It shouldn’t be. AFAIK, their filipino publishers are having their inventories full.

Yes, it’s blocking my registration once i set the “Country” field as Philippines, and the “Payment Option” as Check Payment

I had $80 with adsense then all of the sudden they cancelled my account. then i found out that it happens to a lot of webmasters just before they hit $100. i’m with kanoodle now using their pop-up earning a measly $7 bucks a month.

@Dinagyang:
You can always email them for reconsideration. Maybe they thought you’re committing click fraud. You can tell them your visitors are all from Iloilo, many of whom uses the internet cafes and most internet cafe uses only 2 major broadband provider. That explains why your clicks seem to come from limited number of IP addresses.
