Meebo and Opera
On my work PC, I’m shying away from apps that uses too much memory. The first one I dropped is Firefox. It’s too damn demanding. I switched to Opera. Yahoo Messenger is the next one to go. YM hoards memory even when minimize to tray. I was betting on meebo to take over YM, too bad meebo doesn’t support Opera as of the moment. Good thing there’s Gaim. I’m now enjoying extra 50mb of memory.

WTF. I did the same thing 2 weeks ago, using portable versions of Opera and GAIM. Though I still go back to FF to use some of the extensions.

i heard about gaim few months back but i didn’t know that it’s really useful. i’m a conservative ym user. maybe i’ll try gaim next time. and firefox? again, i’v been using that for so long. i tried opera b4 but since im not really that knowledgeable about complexities in the computer world, i didn’t know the difference, as long as i could browse. My friend just told me they’re better search engines than IE virus-prevention-wise that’s why he installed firefox in my laptop instead. maybe i’ll try switching back to opera… hmmm thanks.

I have used Opera for a long time now, and find little to moan about. Meebo seems to work for me in Opera, at least as well as I need it to. I usually use trillian for my IM needs, though, as it lets me know when I get new mail in Yahoo,AOL,ICQ,IRC and Hotmail, all at the same time. I dont really see the advantage of using meebo, as most of the IM services have web based clients now. I suppose the embeddable widget is its main advantage., but its not enough of an advantage, if you see what I mean.
