Tough Philippine Blog Scene

I redesigned this blog and I’m nowhere to be found in Pinoy Top Blogs. That’s how fierce the competition in pinoy blogosphere. Not that my rank matters, it’s nice to know that Filipinos are actively blogging. And from what I can see, most blogs up there are deserving. No wonder many Filipinos are engaged in network problogging. They are good writers.

I remember when Pinoy Top Blogs was relatively new, I used to hover at the top 20 of the list, then I went down to top 50. Lately, I’m lucky if I get past 60. Today, this blog is gone. It’ll take months, perhaps, to once again be listed in top 100. I don’t know. Maybe if I can be more active in posting entries rather than coding.

Hey kabayan! Found your site on CSS Reboot under the “Philippines” tag. Nice site. :-)

I would have to say that the big problem with making it as a Pinoy Blog is finding your audience. A very small minority of the Pinoy blogging community are the type to be interested in anything beyond pop culture and blogs belonging to their own circles.

While having a good Pinoy tech-oriented blog isn’t much of a challenge since there really aren’t that many (relatively) to compete with, the audience that we’re all sharing just aren’t enough to propel us into fame. :-(

(And no, I haven’t tried getting into PinoyTopBlogs because I’m too lazy to exert the effort of attempting to boost my ranking. I’d rather do my thing and hope that something good comes of it. Hehe.)

This is an interesting web site. I was wondering if you would like to sponsor links within your blog posts. We will pay for every link posted. How does that sound to you? If you’re interested, please
mail back at blog[dot]ph[@]gmail[dot]com. I’d be happy to discuss details with you. Thanks!
