If you have unknowingly installed MyWebSearch Toolbar in Firefox, never look for an anti-spyware to remove it. I spent the whole evening downloading and installing anti-spy and anti-adware products and none of them have removed MyWebSearch toolbar from Firefox. All of the anti-spies are searching for are BHOs in IE. Firefox extensions are not included in their search. In the end I uninstalled them all.
I found the steps in removing MyWebSearch in Firefox over the MozillaZine website. Just close Firefox, go to c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome folder and deleting m3ffxtbr.jar and m3ffxtbr.manifest.
While fixing this Firefox issue, I have also fixed my previous IE issue. After running Hijack This and Crap Cleaner, it now behaves well.

I too have tried loads of anti spyware progs. I managed to get rid of the tool bar but Mywebsearch still has control of my home page. Your instructions were easy to follow, however on looking in chrome there were no “m3ffxtbr.jar” or “m3ffxtbr.manifest” files !
Any other ideas? Ive tried all I can think of thus far.
But thanks anyway.

Great stuff, thanks!
I downloaded Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware program from CNET Download, as it comes highly recommended. It identified MyWebSearch bar as infected but didn’t remove it. At least it has highlighted the problem.

after uninstalling my web search and not finding the previously stated file i found that you can simply modify the values in advanced mode, BE CARFUL THIS IS NOT TO BE ATTEMPED BY THE INEPT. that said it is relitivly straight forward, open this link in another tab/browser and follow the instructions. (for the normal google you just use http://google.com)
also i found other entrys to my web search i just scolled down the list and right click modify and delete the value
is working fine now
