Sideblog v3.4: Tags and Excerpts
Bit by bit, sidebugs are squashed. Just recently, was testing if Sideblog can co-exist with Ultimate Tag Warrior Plugin and it did. Now you can side-blog and at the same time tag.
And one of the most requested feature, the ability to post an excerpt, is also added. Just use the %excerpt% tag for sideblog. The default length of the excerpt is 15 words. It can be increased by using the %excerpt_<number_here>% tag like %excerpt_20%.
I would like to thank those who reported the bugs. Just keep them coming so that I can fix them whenever I find time.
Enjoy!

Hi Kates,
First of, excellent plugin!
One question:
Forgive me if I missed it, but is there a way to also exclude the sideblog posts from showing up in “search” and “archive” mode, besides feeds?
A possible workaround would be to include an “if” statement inside the main LOOP checking for posts belonging to the sideblog-cats and if found skipping those alltogether. But its more a kludge than decent code and doesn’t cover all aspects of proper exclusion.
Thanks much!

Awesome plugin, I’m running 2.0 right now. Is there anyway to have it pull a random post from a category on page load? I use mine for jokes and quotes, it would be cool for it to be dynamic.
