Virtual Private Server
Some of my sites went down a couple of times today. Calculating the total cost I’m currently paying for the sites I maintain, it’s enough for a VPS. VPS gives me all that I’m getting now and more. I get to choose my apps and have root access. The downside: I get to choose my own apps and have root access. I see them in the positive.
Shopped around and found that there are un-managed VPS with prices starting at $8/month. For $8, it doubles the disk space I currently get and an un-metered bandwidth which is great since I won’t have to scrimp on pictures. Not that my sites are going over their quota. Most don’t use half of their allowed monthly bandwidth.

last year ka tatlo gid ko nag saylo webhost. once you start using up 5 gigs of bandwidth, they tend to break their promises. finally, I found a Singapore based webhost that made my life easier. Nag kuha ako reseller account and consolidated my websites in 1 server, a quad CPU (opteron) server with 3 terrabytes of Ram. Also my sites are a lot faster especially in Iloilo. Sang una people complain of time-outs.

Can I ask where are you getting a VPS that cheap? I’m using dreamhost, and stupidly I paid for a year up front. They offer lots of disc space & bandwidth but have frequent outages.
You wanna cough up a link?

I’m looking at http://www.tektonic.com. There are mixed reviews about them in webhosting forums though.

our sharted server was hacked twice in 1 week by some anti-israeli nut from turkey. twice he entered through my site and defaced every index page in the server. so my host quaranteened me in a vps account. the price is a bit steep. any suggestion? I also found this: http://www.usonyx.net/vps.shtml i’m not too fond of US based webhosts.

Well… I’m about to try http://www.servage.net or http://www.hostmonster.com. They are not really VPS but a multidomain webhost. hostmonster so far have lots of positive feedbacks.
