Sideblog V3.5
I have updated Sideblog to work with different date format based on PHP's date parameters and Markdown syntax.
To format your aside to show date as title you can change the display format to something like:
CODE:
-
%F% %d%, %y%
to show August 11, 2006.
If you want it to be a link, you can use the new %url% tag like:
CODE:
-
%url%%F% %d%, %Y%%url%
. I know it's hard to read but you will only do it once.
As usual you can download the new Sideblog here.

Great plugin. I have added it to my list of most valuable plugins. Is there any chance a future release might work with the “more” tag. This would give the flexibilty of writing a longer post without cramming it all in the sidebar area. I know I could use the %excerpt% but any links in the excerpt do not show up as such and there is no “read more” link. But that’s just me being picky. As it is, it is pretty feature rich plugin. Thanks.

Hi,
I have a few problems with the sideblog plugin. Not sure if its something I have done wrong and missed an instruction.
I have no experience with CSS so I have spent days on this problem trying out different sideblog types and finally I got yours to work some of the way.
As you can see I have news bites in my sidebar. What I have done is created a generic category specifically for the sideblog (as other categories would also show up other main posts) this allows me to keep my little news out of the loop or whatever. When I post a news aside I post in the normal way via “write”. Post comes up fine but unlike your asides I am missing 2 things. Firstly the title and the message is all in one. Like your sideblog I would like the title and the message seperate with the title being a click link to the main story elsewhere on the web.
Also I would like for people to be able to comment if possible.
Would you be able to help me with these two issues please?
Like I say I have no CSS experience so any code I would need to know which CSS or PHP sheet it needs to go and where.
I really hope you can help, this is making me pull my hair out trying to get one that works right
