Imay’s in Boardwalk Iloilo

It’s been 5 days after France and I tried another restaurant in Iloilo City’s newest hangout complex, the Boardwalk. but since I was already writing about places to eat in Iloilo here, I thought I should write about our dining experience at Imay’s.

Imay’s is one of the restaurants in Boardwalk commercial complex in Diversion Road Iloilo. We’ve had already one bad dining experience with the neighboring resto, we decided to try another. Besides, Imay’s got pretty good reviews from the local newspapers. Also, Imay’s being a Bacolod restaurant, we are obliged to compare. Just so you know, Bacolod City houses far more good restaurants due it’s vibrant nightlife.

We took the table in their second level dining area for a better view what’s left of the fishponds beside the Iloilo River. Looking at their menu, it suggests that they are a seafood resto. We ordered Spicy Spareribs, Sizzling Scallops and Grilled Talaba (Oysters). Being lazy as we are, we always tend to ask for their house specialty. Sadly, the waiter had a hard time deciding which one it is. They might want to orient their waiters on this. As if that was not enough, we can’t seem to get hold on to one of them. There’s no one waiting for additional orders or bills. I really hate to constantly look and call them out.

The food? Well, they were OK. Not really the type you can suggest. Why? The food are ridiculously overpriced. Those three items we ordered plus two buko juices set us backed Php 400.00. Similarly, you can get that for half the price at Breakthrough.

Hmmm. Keep it cool dude. Unless you’re the owner of Imay’s you shouldn’t be fanatic about them. You can the good things about them if you want, it just so happen that it didn’t turn out good when I visited the restaurant more than a couple of instances before.

It’s one thing to be a business major and being able to price a dish. I do the food marketing at home and I’m pretty sure I know a bit about food prices.

And yes I’m cheap. But who isn’t?

To the critic katesgasis. Since you are a critic then i’m sure you can appreciate when i criticize you. Please think things through before you write because i think you are really embarrassing yourself when you criticize an establishment with such poor grammar. So if you’re going to be a critic at least have the decency to learn the craft of writing in the correct manner or jus write in your native language please. You can also use the grammar check when you type. By the way i don’t think you can go to any resto in town and get what you ordered for jus P200 unless you eat at the karenderia. You must be the owner or a good friend of a resto that is losing out to the other restos you have written about. I notice that there are many families that eat at imay’s often so how can Ilonggos find it expensive,i actually think that it is just as cheap if not cheaper than breakthrough and it’s not as far. If you’re being bias then you really shouldn’t be a critic because a bias critic is not a critic at all

    Imay’s Regular Customer,

Of course I’m being biased and nowhere in the page can you find me saying I’m a food critic. This is a blog for god’s sake. Nobody’s proofreading here. And yes critics have their biases. About the grammar, you might want to tell that the commenter no 1.

Before you go ape over this post, please note that I said the food was OK. Next time, please try to be objective. I wrote something about Imay’s and I stated my reasons.

Anyway, thanks for reminding me about the grammar.

Hmm.Keep it cool dude. This is just a little constructive criticizm that’s all if you can’t take it then it’s better if you keep bad thoughts to yourself and write about your love life or normal things people write about in their blogs.just like you voiced your opinion about the places you ate at,i’m voicing mine.now if you open a blog and criticize or do whatever you do and not expect anything in return that’s just crazy.to be honest with you i don’t care what you think i just like messing with people who like to bad mouth others just to see if they can stand a taste of their own medicine.that’s just one of the things you have to deal with when writing negative things in your blog about others.and by the way a critic can’t be bias at all cuz that shows favor to others even if they don’t deserve it.

I agree with katesgasis. We went there last Friday, Nov 2 with my Mom and Dad and we ended up disappointed with the food, the service and the ambience. I think I had the worst calamares I’ve ever had at Imay’s. Maybe, I set my expectations too high because of the hype I’ve been hearing from other people about this resto, thus the disappoinment.
