The Killers – Sam’s Town
I was surprised to know The Killers aren’t british. Anywho, their When You Were Young track from Sam’s Town album rocks.
I’m Not Angry, I’m Ballistic
The phrase of the day coming from the foaming mouth of my fellow Ilonggo Senator Miriam Santiago after her name was taken out from the list of candidates for Supreme Court Chief Justice position.
Imay’s in Boardwalk Iloilo
It’s been 5 days after France and I tried another restaurant in Iloilo City’s newest hangout complex, the Boardwalk. but since I was already writing about places to eat in Iloilo here, I thought I should write about our dining experience at Imay’s.
Imay’s is one of the restaurants in Boardwalk commercial complex in Diversion Road Iloilo. We’ve had already one bad dining experience with the neighboring resto, we decided to try another. Besides, Imay’s got pretty good reviews from the local newspapers. Also, Imay’s being a Bacolod restaurant, we are obliged to compare. Just so you know, Bacolod City houses far more good restaurants due it’s vibrant nightlife.
We took the table in their second level dining area for a better view what’s left of the fishponds beside the Iloilo River. Looking at their menu, it suggests that they are a seafood resto. We ordered Spicy Spareribs, Sizzling Scallops and Grilled Talaba (Oysters). Being lazy as we are, we always tend to ask for their house specialty. Sadly, the waiter had a hard time deciding which one it is. They might want to orient their waiters on this. As if that was not enough, we can’t seem to get hold on to one of them. There’s no one waiting for additional orders or bills. I really hate to constantly look and call them out.
The food? Well, they were OK. Not really the type you can suggest. Why? The food are ridiculously overpriced. Those three items we ordered plus two buko juices set us backed Php 400.00. Similarly, you can get that for half the price at Breakthrough.
Unionbank EON Cyber Account
Just received my EON Cyber Account card from Unionbank. It’s not activated yet. The bank was offline when I came in. I was too early probably. I’m going back again tomorrow to verify and to put money in it. I’ve got some domains I wanted to buy and books too. I’m just curious on how well accepted it is in the internet.
The EON CyberAccount is UnionBank’s internet-based deposit account. It allows you to do absolutely all your banking transactions in a click of a mouse. It’s the only CyberAccount that gives you free email without the need for an ISP. It’s the only bank account that lets you issue CyberChecks online! You can even make electronic fund transfers to any bank in the country — anytime, anywhere!
For one thing, it’s a beefed up Visa Electron debit card which according to them can be used wherever Visa is accepted. Sounds interesting eh?
I’ve yet to try it and already excited about the fact of shopping online.
My SD Card Reader Fails in Ubuntu
I can’t find the USB connector for my camera and Ubuntu cannot read my SD Card using the internal card reader. Everything works except it.
Mozart’s Magic Fantasy
France and I was able to see the play Mozart’s Magic Fantasy: A Journey Through ‘The Magic Flute’ by The Iloilo Children’s Choir, Inc and The Iloilo Youth Orchestra at St. Anne’s Hall in Assumption Iloilo last thursday. We were on the last day of the play. It’s actually a musical. If there’s a huge distinction between a play and a musical, forgive me for I’m seriously ignorant of these things.
Synopsis of the story from the musical’s programme:
The story begins with Sarah’s arrival at a rehearsal of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”. She is swept into the opera were she meets a talking dragon and Papageno, the colourful birdman. Together, they journey through the wicked Queen of the Night’s Realm to Sarastro’s Castle. With the help of the magic flute and bells, they help Prince Tamino find his Princess Pamina, and Papageno his Papagena. In the end, Sarah is ready to return to her own world. Sarastro invites here to step out into the music of Mozart’s great Overture.
It has been 10 years since I last went to a play. During my college days at DLSU, I used to go with my boardmates to PICC every week to see a play for free. One of the perks we get from having a boardmate studying Arts at St. Scholastica.
I would have to say kudos to the cast and their production team. Not being trained to spot a good musical from a bad one, I totally dig the show. That night’s girl who portrayed the play’s main character Sarah did well. And for a 12 year old, she’s extremely talented in acting. Everybody did well in fact that you’ll hardly notice there’s a main character.
I’m looking forward to the next play/musical in town.
WiFi Freeloaders
I didn’t really bothered setting up my wireless router’s security configuration when I installed it earlier this week. I intentionally left it open just to see if any of my neighbors will pick up the signal as suggested by a friend. Well they did.
My router reported another machine with a different MAC address using the first IP in my network given by DHCP. I don’t know how good are the security of my router or the WEP but I have to enable them. I just have too many sensitive data lying around apart from the fact that I subscribed to a slower internet connection.
