Bride at the Door

A silhouette of a lovely bride taken during wedding of my college best buddy in Manila. I was supposed to shoot digital until the letter of invitation arrived. I’m going to play a minor part in the wedding ceremony which would prevent me from lugging a big-ish camera around.
Not owning a digital point-and-shoot, I happily took the Olympus Trip with me. Shot 2 rolls of Lucky Film 100 New which proved to be a disaster. The Luckies was for the sunny beaches I’m going to visit after the event. None of the shops I visited carried my favorite Tri-X or any standard BW film. The Luckies have no match against low light inside the church.
Lesson learned: do not expect to find film at your destination.
Faces at Esplanade

The view of the faces artwork from the inside of Singapore Esplanade. I was taking a rest inside the Esplanade from the searing Singapore heat during the National Day Parade 2008 celebration. I like this better than the one I took outside.

Singapore Flyer

It was a rainy sunday afternoon when Willie, Madz and me went to the Singapore Flyer. Willie had 4 tickets. Madz and I got one each. Jay could have gotten the last one if he was not in the Philippines attending to his newborn baby.
The Singapore Flyer is one big ferris wheel that moves very slow. A turn took us roughly 40 minutes. The view from the top of flyer could have been better if not for the sights below being littered with ongoing constructions.
All in all the sights at the top are nice but nothing short of breathtaking. We wish we went there at night. The city lights below could have given us a fantastic view. And oh, did I say it was raining? Willie, we need tickets for a night ride.

Do Not Touch Artwork

Artworks painted on glass walls of Esplanade from various Singapore artists during the National Day Parade 2008 celebration. It depicted faces of world leaders as well as influential and popular people.

just before sunset

I guess I’m taking better view of my surroundings on my way home. This photo was taken on the train going home at Sentosa Ave. It was taken in a hurry and against the glass while the train is moving. What I like about this photo is that unlike the Merlion or the Esplanade, I don’t see much of this in flickr.

Marlboro and Texas 5

Dug up my iPhoto for some overlooked photos. Found this photo uninteresting before but after playing with the levels and turning it into black and white, I kinda liked it. This was taken at a shed in Singapore Zoo during a heavy rain downpour.
Gear: Nikon D40 using Nikkor 18-200mm VR f3.5-5.6 lens. Post-processed in iPhoto.
Smoking Area

Hanging out at Trapizza Restaurant in Sentosa’s Siloso Beach after Affle’s beach outing. I used Kodak Tri-x this time instead of Ilford HP5 plus because I noticed that I like finer grains. The levels were adjusted in iPhoto to remove a bit of lens flare.
Gears: Olympus Trip 35 using Kodak Tri-x 400 film developed in Kodal HC-110 for 9 minutes in 27 degree Celsius, scanned by the friendly neighborhood photolab and post-processed in iPhoto.
infrared black and white
Never was a fan of infrared photos until I came across Dave Beckerman’s blog showing infrared bw photos. It got me thinking of trying one soon. Somebody lend me an IR converted camera?
Jolly V

Jolly V is a food stall located at Lau Pa Sat Singapore. The only place that serve the perfect fried chicken for the Filipino taste buds. Oh, the pinoy-style spaghetti is a must-try.
