Tasty Japanese Food
Maki Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar started serving Ilonggos their japanese food concept a couple months back Smallville Commercial Complex in Diversion Road, Iloilo City. It’s only now France and I, finally, found time to try their japanese cuisine.
Being a big fan of Rai Rai Ken, I’m already expecting the usual semi-salty seafood based japanese flavor. I can’t help comparing. Rai Rai Ken’s is more of a fastfood while Maki uses the typical restaurant setup. Maki’s interior look very similar to Al Dente Ristorante Italiano in Sarabia Manor Hotel which isn’t surprising since they’re owned by the same person.
The food as I’ve said is tasty. Too tasty, in fact, that I can’t force myself into finishing bacon-topped maki. We ordered four item from their menu but neither I nor France can remember any of their name except for the refillable green iced tea which are also too sweet. That was our first visit so I can’t say much about their other menu.
Bogs Restaurant Iloilo
Bogs Restaurant along MacArthur highway is where France and I hangs out frequently. It’s behind Shell Station near Gran Plains Subd. Try their Thai inspired Mixed Seafood meal. Ambiance matches their food selections.
Messé Iloilo
Messé is definitely worth a try if you are looking for excellent pasta and european cuisine in Iloilo City. I love their Pasta Marinara. France prefer their Carbonara. Messé is in Tabucan, Mandurriao.
IT Outsourcing in Iloilo
Iloilo just held it’s first IT Week last week. As usual a theme was provided. In this case it was: “Iloilo has IT”. I haven’t had the chance to check out the event at SM City Iloilo. I heard it was quite a success. They have schools and IT businesses invited (ours wasn’t – I wonder why).
I can say that Iloilo is making inroads to outsourcing world. Outsourcing companies are taking a look at Iloilo not just a source of IT workforce but also a place to put up shop. The company I work was put up last december and now, after six months, two new similar shops are starting their operations here. Good for the city. Now if only the power problems will be addressed.
Hongkong Kitchen – Iloilo
Waited 2 weeks to finally try the newest restaurant in Iloilo City. Hongkong Kitchen failed to satisfy me and France. Food is ok but the price-to-taste ratio is too high. Nothing spectacular there.
The Mango Tree Iloilo
France and I had dinner at this nice new restaurant to hangout in Iloilo City. The Mango Tree is located new Mandurriao Plaza going to the town of San Miguel. I don’t know if they got the name from The Mango Tree Restaurant in London.
